The JSE All-Share index traded firmer throughout the day on Monday, but only manage to close 0.26% higher, while the blue-chip JSE Top-40 index gained 0.20%.

While the Industrial index lost 0.06%, both Financials and Resources ended up on the day. Financials closed 1.05% stronger, while Resources ended Monday up 0.03%.

The rand strengthened throughout the trading sessio to the dollar, as the greenback weakend from its session highs. At 17:00, the rand was trading 0.12% firmer at R13.15/$

On the JSE top movers list we saw Lonmin among the day’s biggest movers closing 4.48% higher at R7.07 per share. Sibanye Gold locked in some gains and moved higher by 6.21% to close at R 7.87 per share.

Raubex was under pressure on Monday and closed 5.70% lower at R 19.85, while Tradehold closed 2.53% down at R13.50 per share.

EOH Holdings was down 2.30% to close at R 40.30 per share. 

Brent crude traded firmer throughout the day to reach a session high of $75.27 per barrel just after the JSE closed.

At 17:00 gold was trading 0.16% down at $1224.50 per ounce, while platinum was unchanged at $831.00/Oz.

Palladium gained 0.53% to trade at $930.22/Oz.

Bitcoin traded weaker on the day, losing 0.83% to chnage hands at at $ 8160 a coin, while Ethereum was also down by -1.41 % to trade at $460.08 a coin.
